Comment: This is my 3rd portable player that I use for running/working out. Overall, I love it. For a runner, I think it is the best one out there.
Pros:
Good sound quality

Clip eliminates need for armband, etc.

Comment: So far, the best choice for me when it comes to playing books from Audible.com has proven to be a 4-gig IPod Nano 3G. Simple, elegant and easy to use. That went into the shop, however, so I did some research on a cheaper unit to use as a backup.
I listen mostly to books from Audible.com, so that determined my key needs, which include:
1-Has to play Audible.com files, preferably format 3. Sansa Clip does.
2-Has to have adequate storage and batter power for about 10+ hours of playing time. The 4gB version is just fine for this.
3-MUST have a sleep shut down. It does, and this is actually more flexible than the Nano's feature.
4-Selecting a book via the menus must be quick and easy. A bit more of a hassle than on the Nano, but still pretty quick and easy.
Drawbacks are about what you'd expect... the clip falls off often and easily when the Sansa Clip is in your pocket; the earphones that come with it are a joke, but easily replaced. I hated the Apple headphones, too, BTW. They kept falling out. No wall charger or protective case, but they're available from third party vendors. I got mine here on Amazon and they seem to do the job.
For the price, Sansa Clip is a good choice. For the best overall, I've gotta stick with the iPod as my main unit, but Sansa Clip is still a great backup or primarry unit if you're anti-Apple for some reason.

Summary: Only Lasted 3 Weeks!
Comment: Perhaps this is a reason why it's better to not buy a *new* product until the manufacturer has had time to work out the kinks. I have only owned my Sansa 4G Clip for a few short weeks now and it has already stopped working. It will not turn-on, charge, or do anything for that matter. I am now forced to deal with Sandisk and exercise whatever "limited warranty" rights that I have (which requires me to pay for shipping to send it back to Sandisk, among other things) in the hopes of getting the product replaced with a working one. I still have an older m-series model that works off of an AAA battery, so it's hard to understand what Sandisk has done wrong between the m-series and the newer Clip models, but clearly there are problems with this product that are yet to be sorted out.
UPDATE: I contacted Sandisk and they had a procedure for reseting the Sansa that made it start working again, wtih all of my music still on it. So, for now, I'm not having to deal with their limited warranty.

Summary: Great buy for the price BUT
Comment: I bought the Sansa Clip in March April 2008. I needed a MP3 player that was rugged and could take some beating from working out.
The Sansa audio quality is good and the display is easy to see while you run (however if it is sunny it is difficult to see the display).
Downloading songs is easy as long as you have a PC. Unfortunately the Sansa does not work with Itunes and the IMAC....it also does not work if your PC is an old one with a slow USB port.
I bought mine at Best Buy because Amazon low price was the one of a refurbished Sansa. I founded out when I bought one from Amazon and had to sent it back because it was defective.
If you buy one in an electronics' store, I'd suggest you purchase the extended 2 years warranty. These thing break easy.
The Sansa battery last a very long time. The provided headphones are not good for sport activities, so consider an additional $5 for a cheapo pairs.
I already replaced my Sansa once because the holding clip broke within few months and the battery wasn't charging anymore. This one I have seem to have a defective radio the FM does not pass 90. It is OK with me because I do not listen to the radio, but it is annoying if another member of the family wants to use that feature.
In the overall this is a good buy because under $70 (included the extended warranty) it won't drain your wallet and you'll have few more features and it is more rugged than a Ipod Shuffle.

Summary: Excellent product but quirky shuffle mode
Comment: I bought this unit not long ago. I'm enjoying it very much, using it at work, on walks, in the car, at home - everywhere. It's easy to use and easy to get music to with the Windows Explorer interface. At the price, you can't lose. It's a much better value in my opinion than the various iPods. The only down side is that the shuffle mode is kind of quirky. It seem to play the same songs a lot and never gets to others. This is the only reason I gave it four stars rather than five.
