Summary: Not a bad little player
Comment: I've had mine for almost 1 year. Still works fine. I swim 1 hour 3-4 times a week. Change the battery every 1.5-2 months. My computer never would read the little disc, but I had read other reviews and knew to drag and drop; so I didn't bother. The bubble is a little bulky, but I twist the cords through my goggles, run them down my spine, and catch the bubble inside the center back of my suit. I have also found that if I am swimming hard, the wires come up over my arms more than I like and I can bringing it down my back and tuck the bubble into the front hip/leg of my suit. This stretches the cord and keeps it out of the way. This porbably wouldn't work with a very conservative cut suit. Mine is moderate cut hip. I did lose one of the silicon ear covers and they can be replaced for 2.50 plus 11 shipping and handling. I plan to just buy a new one and be more careful this time. That way I'll have an extra. Also, the website warns to keep the bubble loose when storing to prolong o ring life. This is probably why the other person had leaking. Overall I love mine and the price can't be beat. I would not hesitate to recommend this for lap swimmers. P.S. 256MB holds a little over 1 hour of music.

Summary: Reliable but bulky
Comment: I had some problems keeping the O ring from twisting in the center of the casing. At times, I did find water inside the casing and the mp3 player stopped working. Fortunately, it dried out and was able to work again which makes it somewhat reliable. I suggest applying vaseline to the outside of the casing to help seal the O ring and make it more waterproof. The earplug attachment to the casing works well and there is no need to do more than just push it in (unlike nu-dolphin where you have to screw in the earplugs.)
There is a poblem while swimming as the earplug cord tends to twist around my neck and the casing is bulky to wear. The music is easy to transfer in mp3 format. For the price, this is a great way to start out and you can use this for water aerobics!

Summary: Too complicated to be used regularly
Comment: I eagerly awaited this item, and after receiving it today I plan to promptly return it. First of all, the instructions (as noted in other reviews) really are worthless. I have a Mac so apparently don't need the small disc that contains software. I'm supposed to "drag and drop" my music files, but here's the problem: I use iTunes, which saves files in an mp4 format, not mp3. I don't want to have to download software to convert from one to the other, nor do I want to have to go through that every time I wish to update songs on the mp3 player. I looked into other options, such as burning the songs to a CD and then importing into iTunes as mp3s, but that is also a rather cumbersome process to have to do regularly. I'm also unsure about the headphones -- I assume the clear plastic caps are meant to go over the headphones, but again, no explanation -- so I would have some hesitation jumping in the water, hoping I had set things up correctly.

In short, I was hoping it would be a much more straightforward process, and as I hoped to use this regularly, it's simply too complicated to deal with on a regular basis. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but with nearly worthless instructions I don't know how I'm supposed to uncover any errors on my part. I'm glad other people have had success, and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered the need to transfer mp4s to mp3s. I guess I'll have to continue swimming without music -- which in itself is enjoyable, but I was curious to see whether music would make a difference in the workout. I guess I won't be using this mp3 player to find out! (*Note: I tried editing this to change it to one star, but I'm apparently unable to edit that field.)

Summary: Works great for me!
Comment: I bought this specifically for water aerobics in my community pool to drown out the screaming children. I love it. It does take a little getting use to and the instructions are written in translation software English when means they make no sense - "glinting" means flashing. Unless you are using WINDOWS 98, throw out the little CD, you don't need it. It's a simple flash drive and all you have to do is drop and drag the music onto the player. Getting the music to play at first was a challenge. But I learned - long push on the "on" button, till the light stays lit, then like one "click" on the same button and the music starts to play. Once you have that down, it's a piece of cake. It does take a little patience in the beginning and I think some people just gave up and concluded it didn't work. Well worth the money in my book to enjoy the water on a beautiful day listening to Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Summary: Need better headphones
Comment: I have a hard time hearing because of the noise of the water and breathing underwater - - - plus I have difficulty keeping the earphones seated in my ear -- water gets in there and then the sound is muffled, etc. So frustrating! The adapters don't fit my ears at all -- such is life. Nonetheless, it's a cool thing, and when I can get it to work, it helps break the boredom.

I've learned to put vaseline on the gasket and threads EVERY time -- it got wet on one of my first uses, but I put it on a vent that was blowing fresh air, and it seemed to be fine afterwards. Lucky me . . . !

The volume buttons serve 2 functions -- fast push and you go to the next selection . . .slow push, you get an increase or decrease in volume as appropriate ----- SOOOO frustrating to try to adjust the volume and accidentally advance to the next selection --- .

I don't think I would go with a 256mb again because I listen to a lot of NPR hour programs, and it will only hold about 6 of them --- but . . . the price was right on this one, and it got me started.
