Customer Rating: Summary: Wish I wasn't so Apple Dependent Comment: Hard to believe I made it to 2008 without having an MP3 player. How did I survive? Dunno. Recently however I got lucky and received a hand-me-down IPod Nano (first generation) from a generous and rich sibling. Unbeknownst to him, the battery had been already lived way beyond it's capacity and had failed the first time I turned it on...But now that I was inducted into the MP3 owners society, I quickly drove like a maniac directly to the nearest Apple dealer to purchase this up to date current version. (we don't have a Apple store where I live, probably a good thing.) Now in retrospect, perhaps I was in too much of a hurry. After getting it home, ripping it out of all packing material, and then syncing my music, I realized I had a slight case of buyers remorse.
For one, I bought the smaller memory (4) and wish I splurged for a larger one (8) even if I never filled it all. (only 50 buckaroo's more) At least I'd have the option. Secondly, I should have researched a variety of new state of the art MP3 players, as many are filled with far more bells and whistles, (FM radio etc), are easier to use, and have larger memories for the same price as the Nano. (149.00 at most big box stores)
Part of my problem is that I have become Mac/Apple dependent and fear any gadget that isn't an Apple, worrying it won't be as compatible with my G5 and software. After being forced to upgrade to the latest version of ITunes or my new Nano would not operate, I noticed some new bugs and glitches on top of the old bugs that really aggravated me. I dislike the fact that I have to load an entire album to Itunes instead of being able to load a song or two to my Ipod. That takes too much time. Also, when I delete songs on the Nano, Itunes was skipping some and deleting some I didn't delete...and each time taking me back to the start of the music page...
But in all fairness, this is a review about the Nano, so let me continue without giving you my rants about Apple's software problems.
On a final note, the player is hard to manipulate with the thin silicon cover I purchased . Why doesn't Apple come up with a surface that doesn't scratch so darn easily? You'd think by now they'd realize this metal casing is prone to chipping and scratching. Or is that merely a careful and thought out ploy to get us to buy a new one every year?
But then again, for someone who didn't have a player for all these years, and will be reimbursed by the nice relative for this one, I shouldn't complain so much. At the rate I'm going maybe I'll have an IPhone by next year...wishful thinking.
Customer Rating: Summary: A great little iPod for those on the run Comment: I bought this iPod as a gift, as a matter of fact, I have purchased over a dozen of them for gifts, both business and personal. Everyone loves an iPod (or so it seems to me). I bought this one in pink (again, it was for a gift) and even though I am sure that Apple is coming out with a newer one with more memory and probably a lower price I choose this one because:
* It is great for those who run or walk a lot. It fits on an arm-band better that some of the longer and larger models
* The screen is big enough for most purposes. It is good for song info, pictures and ever a short video. For movies I prefer my iTouch with it's larger screen
* Price. Even if they come down this one is still a good value
iPods are fun, and this one is even more fun that my iTouch because it is smaller and cute. How many electronic gadgets can you say that about?
Customer Rating: Summary: iPod Nano Comment: I love this player :) Nothing bad to say at all.
Only wish it came with bigger space...
Customer Rating: Summary: I love my Apple IPOD Nano 3rd G Comment: I totally recommend this ipod...the sound is great as well as the clarity on the screen for my photos...
Customer Rating: Summary: I never wanted to like ipods... Comment: Because everybody had them. I always purchased mp3 players that had more memory and longer battery life, but this one beats them all. My bf got this for me as an anniversary present and it is just phenomenal. The screen is small and I don't recommend this device if you intend to watch shows and films. The scroll wheel is smooth and the menu is simple. The sounds is great. Itunes is great because you can download songs, games, podcasts, audio books, films and tv shows. The screen is bright and crisp and you will fall in love with it the minute it lands in your hand. BUY it! If I were ever to lose it or if it were to break down I would quickly replace it.
