Customer Rating: Summary: Cannot install.. tried everything... Comment: The bundled install disk was corrupted. There was not a single scratch on the disk but my computer, and a few friends, could not read the disk. HP said to just download and install the drivers off their website. This does not work either. After downloading and running the most up to date drivers I get an error every time saying at least one file could not be found. The software then rolls back and forces me to restart. There is no "restart later" or "cancel" buttons after or during the installation. I just have to wait till it screws up (or end the process in the task manager). Windows cannot install the printer either, it's just error after error. I've tried everything including manually installing the drivers that were unpacked by the drivers off the website and it's still missing files. I can't even review the products actual use because I can't get the damn thing to work. I've even paid someone to come over and try to install it but they run into the same problems. HP's software is horrible and their support hasn't helped me at all.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Printer and Great Price Comment: What can you say? Pull it from the box, put in the cartridge, pop in a memory card, and print great photos... Can't be easier than that...
I probably printed for weeks before I even loaded the PC software on my laptop so I can print from my computer... I love this little thing...
Customer Rating: Summary: great printer Comment: affordable printer that prints a very good quality shot. i have particularly enjoyed working with black and white cartridges. a good buy indeed
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Printer Comment: I got this printer not too long ago, and it has preformed pretty well so far. The pictures are good and it does not use too much ink, or so it appears. Again, the pictures are good quality, but they do take some time to dry. This might be because of the photo paper. I would suggest buying a usb cable as one is not included with the package. All in all, the cheap price and good pictures makes this a good photo printer.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice design... but the photo quality is strongly lacking Comment: I was strongly considering buying this printer - until I saw my friend's prints she made with it.
I'm usually a fan of HP but I really feel they took a step backwards with the photosmart series. The only real drawback to this printer is the fact that it only uses a tri-color cartridge. Yup, there is only cyan, magenta, and yellow. No black! The way this printer makes black (or shades of grey for that matter) is by combining all 3 colors to form a composite black.
This causes the prints to seem washed out and lacking dark contrast (not to mention using a large amount of ink). If you have any sort of darkness, shading, or greys in there, they will be represented poorly. Don't believe me? Go to a local store, ask to see the examples, and compare it to other printers.
