Editorial Reviews:

In one of the most unique memoirs of addiction ever published, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx shares mesmerizing diary entries from the year he spiraled out of control in a haze of heroin and cocaine, presented alongside riveting commentary from people who were there at the time, and from Nikki himself.

When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days -- sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers -- in a coke and heroin-fueled daze. The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.

Here, Nikki shares those diary entries -- some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre -- and reflects on that time. Joining him are Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Bob Rock, and a host of ex-managers, ex-lovers, and more.

Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and shockingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom -- and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

Comment: I ordered this book from Amazon on November 26th and didn't receive it until December 20th. Aside from the slow delivery, the book was in great condition.

Summary: Great book....and I don't even like Motley Crue.
Comment: I found myself at Barnes & Noble today, as I do on most Sundays, just browsing. I headed over to the "music" section to see if they had any good instructional books for guitar or piano. I saw the cover for "The Heroin Diaries" and remembered a friend had mentioned it about a year ago. I picked it up, flipped through the magazine-like pages and read a few excerpts.

I brought the book home around 1:30pm today. I am writing this review at 9:47pm and am more than half way through the book.

As the title to my review states, I don't even like Motley Crue; don't own any of their albums and you won't find any of their tracks on my iPod. But one thing is for sure: the stories told by some of their members are damn entertaining.

I haven't been this wrapped up in a book for a LONG time.

Summary: Crazy but Sad
Comment: Mötley Crüe was my favorite band growing up. Tommy and Nikki were my idols into my teenage years. I went to see them play every time they were on tour from Shout at the Devil - Dr.Feelgood. I remember seeing them in Charlotte NC on the Girls tour when GNR opened for them, and Slash had a neck brace on while playing. This book takes place right at that time and explains a lot. So after reading this it really opened my eyes to what Mötley Crüe was really like in the 80's. Now all the lyrics make sense. I figured they were partying, hard but not to this extreme. Some of the stuff just does not seem humanly possible. Leave it to Motley to see just how much drugs a human can take. I read the book in one sitting, once I started I could not put it down.

If you were ever a Mötley Crüe, Ratt or GNR fan, this is a must read book.

Summary: Great book...Great seller
Comment: This book is amazing. When I told my parents and my family I was reading it, they all looked at me like I was on drugs. But then I explained to them what the book was about and the reason for reading it, and they lightened up. I think everyone should read it to see what drugs do to you and how even trying to quit can affect you.
